Teachings of the Catholic Church - Questions John F. Haught, “The Darwinian Struggle,” Commonweal (September 24, 1999) 1. According to Haught, what do most neo-Darwinists think the implications of the theory of evolution are for one’s notion about God? 2. One notable exception among the neo-Darwinists has been Harvard professor
Stephen Jay Gould. Gould insists that science and religion are talking
about two entirely disparate sets of topics. They should be, he says,
“equal, mutually respecting partners, each the master of its own domain.”
Sounds nice. But what is Haught’s criticism of Gould’s position?
